Just a reminder that my first book, The Savior’s Heart: Lessons of Truth From The Gospel of Mark is now available for purchase here! Ordering your signed copy through my site helps cover the costs it took for publication—and supports my work in the cost of publishing future books too! I have many ideas on my heart that I believe the Lord has inspired.

Ok, on to today’s post!

As we begin the new year, I think it’s important that we stop and thank the Lord for what He will do in our lives before it even takes place. Celebrating what He will do acknowledges our need for Him to be involved in every detail. Once we do that, we become open to let Him lead. Before we run away with ideas in our head of all we wish to accomplish with the birth of a new season, pause and praise. It will change your perspective. We must seek His kingdom first; all other things will be added only after we do. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

Let’s also pause and sit still long enough in His presence to set our intentions purposefully in alignment with His. We need our vision to focus on the spiritual, not the natural. I don’t know about you, but I need to see with my spiritual eyes if I ever hope to accomplish the dreams God has placed within me. It requires faith to believe in greater things than what we can do on our own. When we commit our plans to Him, He will take care of the outcomes. “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

Do not neglect your present calling when you begin to see pieces of the next assignment. God begins to prepare us far in advance of the transition. We must be faithful stewards of what we have been given before we can ever expect to be given more. Wherever He has called you, show up and do whatever you can with excellence. It will lead to where you know you are ultimately meant to be. You can only become the person necessary for the next step by going through the process it takes to get there. There are no shortcuts. Persist until is is finished. “Entrust your works to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3

As you begin the year: Praise…Pause…Persist.
