Anyhow, if you’re in the market for a #ProteinTreat that doesn’t actually taste like protein, Legendary Foods has you covered! There’s six flavors to choose from, including two cake style (red velvet and birthday cake) and four classic (brown sugar cinnamon, strawberry, blueberry, and hot fudge sundae). I’ve tried all the flavors except for the birthday cake and the blueberry, but I ordered the birthday cake after trying the red velvet and it’s on its way. They range from 150 – 170 cal with 9 – 20g of protein each! See below for all the shots!
💭 Overall thoughts:
I have only tried these at room temp. The actual pop tart itself feels like the real deal in terms of texture. Not too sweet, but still delicious. I like to eat the edges first and then the middle (same as regular pop tarts). The filling in all of them is very sweet, as is the frosting on top. Absolute perfection! To me, desserts like this is where erythritol shines as a sugar substitute because of the mouthfeel it has. Not sure how to explain it exactly. It doesn’t work in everything, but for things like icing and filling it works so well. As far as flavors, here’s my reviews:
🎂 Red Velvet:
I recently tried red velvet pop tarts, and I have to say I actually MUCH prefer the Legendary Foods version. I know it’s not a complete one on one comparison, because of the cake style Legendary Foods, but they were much, much better. I liked the cake style of the pastry part, and the filling inside really did taste like cream cheese. Not sure if it was just me, but the regular pop tart red velvet pastry portion tasted burnt (same for the cookies and cream) and the cream filling was more like marshmallow than cream cheese.

🤎 Brown sugar cinnamon: This was my favorite flavor pop tart growing up. These legit crush the craving without all the sugar! They nailed this flavor.

🍫 Hot fudge sundae:
I didn’t think I would like this one as much as I did! It is really, really good! Not sure I get any ice cream vibes, but the hot fudge filling definitely shines through!

🍓 Strawberry:
I have to say that strawberry is also just one of those classic pop tart flavors from childhood, and this one also exceeded expectations. Again, they nailed it. (I tried this one a while back and did not take a pictures).
