Macro Friendly Mondays — Best-Ever Burger Recipe!

Just a reminder that my first book, The Savior’s Heart: Lessons of Truth From The Gospel of Mark is now available for purchase here! Ordering your signed copy through my site helps cover the costs it took for publication—and supports my work in the cost of publishing future books too! I have many ideas on my heart that I believe the Lord has inspired.

Ok, on to today’s post!

July 24th was my husband’s 40th birthday, and his requested menu was burgers, sweet potato fries, and chocolate milk—all homemade, no shortcuts. It’s one of the family traditions to have that meal for special occasions. I wasn’t even going to pretend to fill the shoes of my mother-in-law making homemade fries and chocolate milk, but figured I could probably make a decent enough burger. Besides that, I knew nobody else wanted the job of pressing out 84 hamburger patties! 🤪

I thought about going the route of seasoning and breadcrumbs, but I decided to keep it simple and stick with what I know and trust… Dales marinade! Plus egg of course! Like I said, I was just hoping to offer a decent burger. What I did not expect was the number of people at the party wanting to know what I used because of how much they enjoyed them. You know a recipe is worth sharing if you impress multiple generations enough that they ask what you did! So here it is… The easiest, but best ever burger recipe!

🥣 Ingredients:
👉🏼2 lb 90/10% beef (I don’t recommend going leaner than that; I tried it with 93/7% and it wasn’t the same)
👉🏼2 eggs (I used yard eggs from our chicken; they are part of the magic and I can’t vouch for regular)
👉🏼40g Dales marinade (2 TBSP + 1 tsp if you don’t have a kitchen scale)

👩🏻‍🍳 Method:
1️⃣ Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
2️⃣ Measure out into 4 ounce balls (you should get 9 total) and press out using a burger press (or by hand if you don’t have one).
3️⃣ Grill as you normally would to desired level of done-ness (I know it’s taboo to some with ground meat, but we prefer the medium rare in this house).
4️⃣ Serve with toppings of choice on a bun (my hubby loves Dave’s Killer brand) or in a lettuce wrap (my preference).

📝 Notes:
☑️ Macros are for just the burger, no toppings.
☑️ Eggs: If you can’t get your hands on yard eggs, Egglands Best would be my recommendation.
☑️ Servings: You can totally cut the recipe in half, but be aware you’ll end up with a weird size burger left over (this is because of the eggs; each is about 2 oz). To make it easy, I would just cook and freeze what you won’t use right away.
☑️ Toppings: I used Sir Kensington’s ketchup, light Miracle Whip, mustard, dill pickle relish, tomatoes, and onions. Sautéed mushrooms, cheese, and bacon would take this over the top!

📌 Don’t forget to Pin for later!

Reader Questions:
1️⃣ What’s your favorite burger topping?
2️⃣ Do you use Dales marinade?

PSA: While I use macro tracking as a starting point with some of my clients, my #MacroFriendly posts can be used as as ideas for those who use a #MindfulMacros approach (AKA not tracking, but structuring meals based on how their body responds best to protein, carbs, and fat) as well. This is the goal place for some to reach after they learn the ropes by tracking for a period of time. For some of my clients who don’t want to track for one reason or another, we start with the mindful macros approach. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to find your forever way to eat! If you are interested in joining my #MealMasteryMentorship, email me! We can set up a free discovery call! The goal of my coaching is to get you to a place where you no longer need a coach.
