For some reason, I thought I had shared this post, but never did! Oh well, better late than never!
Do you choose a focus word for the new year? After praying about it, the Lord gave me “surrender” as my focus word for this year. It seemed odd at first, but after digger deeper, it made so much sense…
My biggest objective for 2020 needs to be to surrender the entire process of everything I do to the Lord’s direction. I can plan my ways, but I need the Lord to direct my steps.
Why is this so critical for me?
I used to struggle with procrastination big time and my method of overcoming it was to plan ahead as much as possible and to act as soon as I could on things, without delay—no exceptions! It’s served me very well to overcome procrastination, but it occasionally comes at a cost too. I’m such an action-oriented and “plan-ahead for everything” type of gal now that sometimes I forget to pause and make sure He has given me the “green light” on things. I neglect to run things through the filter of what He has already spoken to me or to wait on His answer if it *hasn’t* been given yet. I need to double check His timing before blazing ahead.
So, in all I do (business, personal, financial, relational, etc.) I want to practice intentional surrender.
Have you chosen your word this year? Remember this promise if you have asked the Lord for a word to focus on: “My word, which comes from My mouth, is like the rain and snow. It will not come back to me without results. It will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do.” Isaiah 55:11
