#75HardDay23: Rest Is Part Of Growth {Vlog}

👉🏼 I found myself wrestling with the need for a nap today. I often feel like I have too much to get done to stop and rest when my body is telling me I need to. However, sometimes you have to take one step backward to get two steps forward. 👉🏼 Let us not forget the example the Lord gave by resting on the Sabbath. He did not need the rest; after all He is God. 👉🏼 He set the example for us in work by demonstrating that there is a natural flow of both effort and rest. 👉🏼 Rest includes more than just sleep or taking naps; it includes things that recharge your battery. 👉🏼 Rest allows you to function at your highest when you are engaged in meaningful activity. 👉🏼 Even muscle rebuild itself during recovery, meaning that the growth doesn’t just happen in the gym when you’re pushing yourself. 👉🏼 Think of the way that growing children need naps in addition to sleeping at night. This is because they are undergoing growth at a very rapid pace. It is the same for us; we cannot expect to always be pushing hard and never resting. 👉🏼 There’s a style of training coined by Metabolic Effect called rest-based training. The idea is to push until you can’t, then rest until you can. It is a highly effective form of training because it allows you to go all out with your effort, knowing the rest is ready for you as soon as you recognize the need for it. 👉🏼 So for those of you struggling today with allowing yourself a little grace with regard to rest, I pray this encourages you to see the value, even the necessity of it! #WhatCanBeGainedCoaching #75Hard
