This recipe actually works really well if you want to make it the night before. You can reheat it, or you can just eat it cold (which is actually how I like to eat it, because I’m down with the #strangebutgood). It’s so simple, but #satisfactionfactor10.
Protein Cream of Wheat
What you need:
- 1 packet of the 100 calorie original flavor instant cream of wheat
- 6 oz water (or you could use milk)
- 6 tbsp (92g) liquid egg whites
- a few drops of stevia drops
- toppings of choice (I used 2 tbsp (12g) PB2 and 1/2 scoop (10g) clutch bodyshop baking mix).
Method:
1/ Heat water or milk in a microwave safe bowl until boiling.
2/ Remove from the microwave, add cream of wheat, and stir until lumps are gone.
3/ Add egg whites and stir again.
4/ Place back in the microwave and heat for another minute or so (until egg whites set up), stopping to stir in 20 second intervals. Stir in stevia drops and either top and enjoy, or cover and store in the fridge until morning.
🍴Macros with toppings as shown: 235 kcal, 2.2g fat, 27g carbs (2g sugar), and 24.5g protein.
🍴Macros without toppings: 150 kcal, 0g fat, 20g carbs (0g sugar), and 10g protein.
You can customize this to your little heart’s desire. The base recipe could work whether you’re Team Sweet or Team Savory. (You could even add volume with zucchini—search #zoats on Instagram if you aren’t familiar with the technique).
Some ideas: Add Devotion Nutrition flex flavors, protein powder of choice, fruit, nuts, cacao nibs, extracts, etc., if going the sweet route. If going savory: add cheese or nutritional yeast, veggies, herbs, cooked ground meat, etc.
Reader question: What would you add?

Well thank you lady! I ate it every day for a week and a half, so I figured I should probably share it!
I grew up eating cream of wheat, this recipe is pretty awesome the egg whites are a great addition and the PB2 always excites me. 🙂
I can’t recall ever having cream of wheat as a kid…Wish I’d have tried it sooner! I’ll just make up for lost time!
